The Wanamaker Building

The Wanamaker Building, completed in 1911, was the architectural and engineering marvel of its era. The property was fully restored in 1991 to meet the changing needs of today's retail and office users. In a partnership with Angelo, Gordon & Co. and Cargill Financial Services, Amerimar acquired a controlling interest in the property in 1997. Cargill subsequently purchased Angelo, Gordon & Company’s interest.

Amerimar converted 219,000 square feet of space on the fourth and fifth floors from retail into office space and leased it to a mix of public and private sector tenants. The property team implemented changes that improved the comfort, appearance and efficiency of the property. The property is again recognized as the building of choice for large users of Class AA office space.

In May of 2003, IPC US Income Commercial REIT purchased the majority of Cargill’s interest. In 2007, Behringer Harvard purchased the IPC position. Amerimar retained its ownership interest and continues to manage and enhance the value of the property.
