An affiliate of Amerimar Enterprises, Inc. acquired the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Meriden, Connecticut from MeriStar Hospitality REIT as part of a three building transaction. This opportunity was created when MeriStar liquidated 18 hotels in 2003 to reshape their portfolio and pay down debt.
Located midpoint between Hartford and New Haven, the property is within an hour's drive of Ledyard Casino and the Connecticut shoreline. It is also near many corporations in Wallingford, Cheshire, Southington, Middletown, Cromwell and Berlin. Area schools include: Yale University, Wesleyan and Briarwood College.
Amerimar made many changes to the hotel in its efforts to restore the hotel and establish the hotel as the market leader. Included in those plans were a major renovation, brand repositioning and the introduction of a new restaurant concept.
The renovation included a total refurbishment and upgrading of the guestrooms, redesign of the lobby and hotel entrance, renewal and reconfiguration of the hotel’s meeting space, remodeling and enhancement to the hotel pool and fitness facilities and the introduction of wireless internet access for guest use.
To improve the hotel's appeal to corporate travelers, meeting groups and leisure guests the hotel was rebranded to become a Four Points by Sheraton hotel. By promoting the many state of the art features of the Four Points brand including the Starwood Preferred Guest program, Global Sales offices and the Comfort Sleeper beds, the management team established the hotel as the primary choice hotel for those travelers who are coming to central Connecticut and the Research Parkway for business, pleasure, university visits or to attend college or youth sporting events.
To further enhance the hotels appeal to hotel guests and the local community, a new restaurant concept called Brady’s was introduced. The American Pub style of food and beverage service provided a casual moderately priced venue that will perfectly meet the needs of the hotel guests and the local community. Brady’s was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
